The work that is done at fertility clinics on behalf of patients who are struggling to conceive is becoming increasingly common. In real life, as well as television shows and young adult fiction, the topics of IVF payment plans and infertility procedures are becoming more and more common.

Fertility centers across the country help couples find a way to have a family. And while these procedures can be very expensive and are sometimes not covered by insurance, there are many kinds of IVF payment plans that are available. As doctors realize that they will have patients who cannot pay for the entire procedure, it only makes sense that these fertility experts are working with companies that can help patients afford the dream that they have.

Fertility Clinics Offer IVF Procedures and Hope to Many Couples

A couple aged 29 to 33 with a normal functioning reproductive system still only has a 20% to 25% chance of conceiving in any given month. This is just one scenario when many couples find themselves looking for advice about increasing their chances of conceiving a child. Consider some of these facts and figures about the IVF industry and the impact that it has on individual families, as well as the economy of the nation:

  • 6.7 million women ages 15 to 44 have impaired ability to get pregnant or carry a baby to term, also know as impaired fecundity.
  • 7.5% of all sexually experienced men younger than age 45 reported seeing a fertility doctor during their lifetime, according to a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) study which analyzed data from the 2002 National Survey of Family Growth. This percentage represents 3.3–4.7 million men.
  • Women are most fertile between the ages of 20 and 24.
  • By the age of 40, only 40% of women who wish to have a baby will be able to do so.
  • 44% of women with infertility seek medical assistance. Of those who have sought medical intervention, nearly 65% give birth.
  • 85% to 90% of infertility cases are treated with surgical procedures or drug therapy.

As many as 15 states have passed laws requiring insurance policies cover some level of infertility treatment. These states include: Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Texas, and West Virginia. For people who live in the remaining 35 states, it can be comforting to know that there are IVF payment plans in place that can help many patients afford this option.
